Health & Safety for Visitors

While hosting a tattoo convention is relatively new for Manitoba, tattoo conventions have been running safely and successfully for years in Canada and across the world. Public health and safety is a primary responsibility of all the tattoo artists working at The Winnipeg Tattoo Convention. Cross contamination prevention is an integral part of our day to day operations. We take our own health and the health of our community seriously. All artists are certified or licensed in bloodborne pathogens or as body modication technicians.

Temporary personal services can be offered safely by ensuring necessary precautionary measures are taken. Portable hand washing facilities are brought in and are set up at regular intervals throughout the trade show floor. Attending artists and vendors are vetted by experts in our field before approval to work at the event. Booths are set up to create a controlled environment where by the general public do not have access to the work area and only the artists and clients have access. Sharps dispensers, surface disinfectants, hand sanitizer, alcohol, paper towel, distilled water, nitrile gloves, dental bibs, ink caps, rinse cups and all other necessary items to create a sterile single use setup are provided by the organizer.

Medical grade surface disinfectants are provided to ensure work areas are cleaned and sterilized in between each procedure. Single use disposable tubes and needles are used to eliminate the need for sterilization areas. Liquid solidifiers are used to eliminate the need for liquid waste disposal.

Release forms will be signed collected, collated and stored. Both written and oral after care procedures will be provided to each client tattooed at the convention.
